Past
In the 1950's a farmer named Ben Weaver began building homes in
order to augment his income. Through the 50's and 60's a few new Ben Weaver
homes began improving the Wayne and Stark County area each year. In 1970
Ben Weaver chose to take on the home building field full time. Ben's son,
Ken, started working for his father as a teenager. Ken says, "I knew
from age 11 that building is what I wanted to do". Incorporated in
1978 as Weaver Custom Homes, Ben's company has prospered. Ben, now retired,
acts as a consultant for the company. Ken is the President of Weaver Custom
Homes and his brother-in-law, Ron, is Vice President. This family-oriented
team has always kept the customer in mind.
Present
Weaver Custom Homes, although involved in commercial and light industrial
building since the early 1970's, decided in 2000 to create a division, WCH
General Contractor, solely dedicated to commercial and light industrial
construction. WCH General Contractor can offer its customers a complete
design/build firm with our own license professional staff. From engineering
to drafting to conceptual estimating, WCH has the team in place to begin
working on your project immediately. WCH General Contractor shares a 3,600
square foot office facility with Weaver Custom Homes.
Weaver Custom Homes and WCH General Contractor have the ability
to be on the cutting edge of the building industry. In order to
be competitive and have the vast amount of necessary resources available
at any given time, in 1995 Weaver Custom Homes expanded and established
Weaver Building Supply. Weaver Building Supply is operated and managed
by Gary Miller, a son-in-law of Ben. WBS stocks and carries an array
of building materials, and supplies all of Weaver Custom Homes building
projects as well as materials for WCH General Contractor. Weaver
Building Supply is open to the public and is located at the cul-de-sac
of Eagle Pass Drive in Wooster.
Weaver Custom Homes, WCH General Contractor, and Weaver Building Supply have grown in
great strides for the duration we have been in business. The projected forecast of economical
growth of Wayne and Stark counties will lend the company's future to be strong. As we reach out to
untapped surrounding counties it is our desire to carry the Weaver traditions into the generations to
follow.
